About Al Badia

Al Badia Arabian Stud is owned by Martin and Laurie Schmelzle of Seneca, Kansas, in the United States. The vision behind the stud began in the early 1980's when Laurie was given the opportunity by both her parents, and by Willis and Immogene Flick's Glenglade Arabians, to show many beautiful Arabian horses while growing up in South Florida. The vision became reality when Martin and Laurie purchased their foundation mares in 2005 and 2006.

The focus of Al Badia is to produce classic Arabian horses of Egyptian descent, in the tradition of many notable breeding programs of the past. The stud has intentionally built, most immediately, upon the breeding programs of the four ‘founding giants’ of the Pyramid Society; Willis and Immogene Flick’s Glenglade Arabian Horse Farm of Miami, FL, Donald and Judith Forbis’s Ansata Arabian Stud of Mena, AR, Douglas and Margaret Marshall’s Gleannloch Farms of Barksdale, TX, and James and Elouise Kline’s Kline Arabians of Whittier, CA. Al Badia's tail female lines descend from the EAO / RAS through the Loeber Ramses Herd / Plum Grove Farm, and from Inshass of Egypt through Dr. Marei’s Albadeia Stud of Egypt.

To all of the preceding individuals, and to the breeders of Egypt and ultimately to those of the Arabian desert, we extend our respect and appreciation for the beautiful horses we have today.
